Brisk Kananaskis Morning

The air is cold coming off of the river. You have to rub your hands together to stay warm. The sun is no match for the wind when it comes to keeping you warm. It is late fall, and snow has dusted Mount Glasgow, providing a rich but subtle play of light between the shadow and sun lit areas of the mountain. This painting is of the Elbow River valley, close to Little Elbow Campground.

I find it interesting to compare the photo taken on site with the painting. The photo does not show the warmth of the shadows in the mountains that I saw.
