Hello.
My name is Stephen Purdy, and I am an artist working primarily in the Foothills and Mountain regions of the Canadian Rockies. I paint outside when I can, and strive to bring the resonance of the natural world into my paintings. My mission statement is as follows:
“Armed with only paint and a canvas, reveal the beauty that surrounds us enough, to make you cry.”
Stephen trained and worked professionally as an Architect for 30 years. More recently he has turned his attention to Landscape painting, and has been active in this genre for over three years.
Stephen’s focus in art is in making the natural world ‘real’ in a plastic art form. Passionate about painting from the source, ‘en-plein air’, striving to bring the austere beauty, and associated emotional content of the natural world into pictorial form.
Stephen has received a number of awards and recognition for his work.
